BIO

One of the defining characteristics of coming out on top in the entertainment industry is versatility. Enter Laura Stylez, the Latina born with the L.A. vibe and raised with a New York state of mind. Besides her versatility, Laura’s style, grace and undeniable presence have helped her in pursuing a career in radio, in the nation’s toughest market, New York City.

No one starts at the top right away and Laura’s ascension up the ladder of success was no different. Her break into radio came with WWPR 105.1 FM, one of New York’s top hip-hop stations. It wasn’t long before Laura’s determination showed through and veteran radio jocks took notice. Laura’s on-air commentary and production for some of the stations top personalities earned her a spot as Associate Producer for WWPR’s top rated “The Star and Bucwild” morning show. Laura covered everything from reads to drops and commercials, making the nationally syndicated show New York ready.

Laura’s prowess behind the boards lead her to produce shows for the likes of Tony Touch, 50 Cent, Ludacris and Destiny’s Child. Beginning in 2005, Laura Stylez began her journey from behind-the-scenes to front and center when Music Choice, a company that offers commercial-free music television programming, recognized her unique and engaging vocal style. Laura Stylez was recognized as the National Urban Voice for Music Choice in 2005 and 2006. Another foray that brought her to the public eye and meshed with her love for urban fashion and hip-hop was her television and film debut with ESPN2′s “It’s The Shoes” hosted by Bobbito Garcia, the sneaker documentary “Sneakerheads: A Jordan Love Story” and “Say My Name,” a documentary on female lyricists and their love for hip hop.

Eventually, Laura got her break to crack the mic when La Kalle 105.9 FM offered her the mid-day time slot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m, Monday through Saturday, after recognizing her multicultural appeal. In 2009, Laura landed the “Afternoon Drive” on Caliente SIRIUS/XM where she’s heard nationwide. She also made her mark on Pulse 87 FM in New York City as a jock and online on one of the top online radio stations ALISTRADIO.NET. For her resourcefulness and tenacity, Laura was recognized by the world famous Heavy Hitters DJ collective and joined the crew as only the second female to be inducted. Her effort to take on multiple gigs and rock a crowd earned her a nomination for “Club Host of The Year” from the Latin Urban Mixx, and she was also featured in numerous editorials such as Kicksclusive Magazine for her love of music and sneakers.

Besides doing extensive voice-over work for everyone from Beyoncé to Sean “Diddy” Combs, video games like Grand Theft Auto and voice imaging for radio stations across the country, she’s been tapped to host a plethora of events. Laura Stylez has hosted The Pepsi/MTV VMA’s Blue Carpet Bash for both 2007 and 2008.
